Patrick J. Sweeney (Principal Solicitor)

Patrick is the principal solicitor at Patrick J. Sweeney Solicitors. He holds a Bachelor of Civil Law Degree from University College Cork and was admitted to the Roll as a solicitor in 2004. Patrick practices in a wide area of law, but specialises in all aspect of Litigation, in particular High Court Judicial Review and injunction proceedings, as well as Immigration applications and the International Protection Process. Judicial Review is the process by which the High Court examines the legality of decisions or actions of public bodies. Where a public body acts unfairly, or breaks procedural rules, the High Court can order the overturning of unlawful decisions. In Judicial Review the High Court supervises the lower courts, and Tribunals such as International Protection Appeals Tribunal, and other administrative bodies like the Department of Social Protection. Patrick has extensive experience in bringing Judicial Review proceedings, in both asylum and immigration matters, as well as the ordinary judicial review lists..
